Abri Credit Union (ACU) believes strongly in giving back to our members and the communities we serve. Abri Credit Union’s College Scholarship has been established to recognize, reward and help make possible the pursuit of higher education by members.

This year two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded - one to a graduating high school senior and one to an existing higher education student.

Who is eligible?
  • Members of Abri and their children that have had their own account for at least 6 months. Abri accounts (checking, ATM, savings, etc.) must be in good standing with no delinquent or charged off loans, plus
  • A minimum GPA of 2.5 out of 4.0 or 3.5 out of 5.0 or higher
  • Either
    • A graduating high school senior who plans on attending an accredited college, university, or vocational school full-time for the 2016-2017 school year. A check will be cut to the institution once the student has been accepted. or
    • A full-time student attending an accredited college, university or vocational school during the 2016-2017 school year
Abri board members and employees and their immediate families are not eligible. Students who have previously won the Abri scholarship in each category above will not be eligible to win.
How is the recipient selected? A panel of judges will award two scholarships; one to a graduating high school senior and one to a higher education student who submits the best 60-second video/commercial or essay that conveys a clear, clever message of their financial knowledge on one of the topics provided below. We will not judge the quality of the production, but the message itself.
How is the money awarded? Abri will award two $1,000 scholarships in the form of a cashier’s check payable to the students and their school. Winners will be selected by February 15, 2016 and be notified by email.
What will I need to apply?
  1. Completed application
  2. School transcripts
  3. Two letters of recommendation
  4. Your choice of either a Video or an Essay that conveys a clear, clever message of your financial knowledge on one of the following topics:
    • What do you wish someone would have told you before you started managing money?
    • What 3 qualities do you think are important for a financial institution to have?
    • What are some ways you could cut back in order to save money?

Please submit a 60-second video/commercial on one of the three topics listed above. Video format guidelines: File size limit is 300 MB. Acceptable file formats are .MPG; .MOV; .AVI; .WMV. Please submit a 500 word essay on one of the three topics listed above. Essay format guidelines: double spaced, 1” margins, 12 point Times New Roman font, 500 words or approximately 2 pages in length. No longer than 700 words, approximately 3 pages in length.

Only complete applications will be considered.
